In his time on the Board of Directors of the Kansas Golf Association, Parker was known as the leading “Rules” authority in the state. He was chairman of the KGA Rules Committee for five years and spearheaded a move to involve other KGA volunteers to get interested in this area of golf. He has been vice-president of the Wichita Golf Association, a member of the USGA’s Sectional Affairs Committee, and a member of the Golf Digest Course Ranking Panel. Parker remains a top-notch amateur golfer including qualification in three USGA National Championships as well as success in the oil business. Parker died in 1998.
