Few names in Kansas and Midwest golf command as much respect as Rob Wilkin. Known for both his competitive excellence and his dedication to growing the game, Wilkin’s impact on golf in the region spans more than four decades.
A standout collegiate player at Coffeyville Community College and the University of Kansas, Wilkin earned NJCAA All-American honors in 1981, setting the stage for a remarkable professional career. He became a PGA Member in 1987 and went on to become one of the most decorated players in Midwest PGA history.
Wilkin’s résumé includes nine Midwest PGA Section Championships, three Senior Section titles, and one of his most memorable victories—the 2016 Watson Challenge, where he defeated eight-time major champion Tom Watson in a playoff to capture the title. His consistency and longevity are underscored by being named Midwest PGA Section Player of the Year an incredible 18 times, including 13 consecutive seasons. He also captured the Kansas Golf Association Club Professional Championship twice (1988, 1989).

Beyond his playing accomplishments, Rob’s contributions to the game are equally impressive. As Golf Operations Manager and Head Golf Professional at Heritage Park Golf Course since 1998—and through earlier positions at Mission Hills Country Club, Wolf Creek, and Alvamar Country Club—he has mentored and taught many of Kansas’ elite players. Always generous with his time and knowledge, Rob has helped shape the next generation of golfers and professionals across the state.
His leadership and service extend well beyond the fairways. A Past President of the Midwest PGA Section and Co-Founder of the Kansas City Golf Show, Rob has been instrumental in promoting and advancing the game at every level.
His outstanding career has earned him numerous honors, including induction into the Midwest PGA Section Hall of Fame (2018), the Kansas City Golf Hall of Fame (2020), and the Coffeyville Community College Hall of Fame (2024).
