Receiving the prestigious honor of Phil Miller Jr Golf Scholar for 2023 is Ty Adkins from Hutchinson High School.

Adkins graduates with a 3.75 GPA and will attend Wichita State University this fall. With a prospective major in Sports Business and Management, Adkins’ dream is to work with the USGA, PGA or a well-known golf brand. With great discipline on and off the golf course, Adkins has earned a spot on the Shockers Men’s Golf Team. He has deep respect for the rules of the game, his competitors and is thankful for his golf mentors: Charlie Pierce, Mike Kinney, John Lanham, and Rusty Hilst.

Each year, a distinguished Scholar is recognized for his/her academic excellence and golf achievement. Only one individual receives this accolade, which was established in 2021 to serve as a testament to the unwavering commitment and passion of the former KGF Executive Director, Phil Miller, in fostering the growth of junior golf in Kansas.
